Brown County Weekend

I’m excited to share all the photos from the last few days of our Brown County trip. We had a wonderful weekend getaway  in Nashville Indiana staying at the Robinwood Inn. We stayed in the most charming cabin with a loft,  Maybelle’s Cabin.

The Inn’s owners provide everything one could need in a vacation home; full kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, three bedrooms that sleep up to six comfortably, tons of games and a record player to keep you occupied, patio with hot tub, charcoal grill, they brought breakfast to our door each morning and a truly amazing woodland setting.

The cabin was close to all the fun things to do in Nashville so we spent a day in town shopping and checking out everything the town has to offer. Despite all of the rain on Saturday we had a great time and made the most of it by playing games, grilling out and listening to live music at the brewery! I would definitely recommend the area we stayed, we can’t wait to return!

Viva Las Vegas

Helllloooo friends! I made it back from Las Vegas on Monday night after a spontaneous weekend trip with Jake. The weekend flew by being crammed full of fun- gambling, shows and great eats what more could you want?

My favorite part of the trip was watching Absinthe the Cirque Du Soleil show, it was hysterical and entertaining the entire time.

Absinthe was one of the best acrobatics & comedy shows I have seen in Vegas. I’ve seen a a couple of the Cirque shows but Absinthe was a little bit different than all of the others. Some of the acts felt really dangerous! I was a tiny bit worried  when two roller skaters came onto the stage that one of the performers was going to go flying into the audience. If you ever get the chance to see it, make sure you do!

Have a great week!

Gulf Shores

Last week Jake and I traveled to Gulf Shores Alabama for a week long beach vacation. The beaches were so clean, the area is beautiful and most importantly, Gulf Shores offers tons of activities for all ages! For the most part our trip was relaxing filled with eating, drinking, shopping and enjoying the beach.

With that being said, here are my favorite memories from Gulf Shores (notice it’s heavy on the food…yum!)

  1. The Beaches – The beaches were pristine, way cleaner than the beaches in Florida. The sand is gorgeous-perfectly clean and white

2. The Hangout – The atmosphere was awesome. The Hangout is located right on the beach and has that cool vacation-y vibe. Good drinks and live entertainment on the beach…what could be better?

3. Lambert’s is a popular restaurant in the South with a menu full of comfort food. Be prepared to wait an hour or two to be seated but it is definitely worth the wait. They bring pass-arounds and throw rolls to each table before you order your meal.

3) Crab Hunting- At night the beaches are completely lit up with flashlights from people crab hunting. We took our nets, buckets and flashlights hitting the beaches each night to find these little guys after dark.

4. Oysters – So I’ve eaten quite a few oysters in my life but Papa Rocco’s were by far the best i’ve ever had despite their motto ” Warm Beer and Lousy Pizza”. Known for their oysters and pizza, this place is a must!

Surprise 30th

It’s been over a week and I still can’t believe that Jake’s surprise party has come and gone. I had an idea in my head at least a year ago and really started planning months ago.

Given the way summers typically fly by, I wanted to make sure that I had a head start on things and really got to work in May. At that point I reached out to our parents to make sure the date worked and started mapping out the party plan.

Yes, I kept a secret from him for that long, and it was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done. I thought I would blow it or one of his friends before the day came.

I gotta tell you all what I did to surprise him! {It’s ok to have a white lie if it’s for a birthday surprise, right?} I told him a couple weeks before to not make plans because we would be meeting my cousin and her husband for Mexican.

Getting dinner with them was a normal weekend activity so I knew it would be believable and he wouldn’t be suspecting anything. If he only knew I had invited all of his friends months ago, and he was about to be in for the surprise of his life.

That evening I called an Uber to take us downtown to La Revolucion in Fountain Square. I had arranged to have our friends show up at the restaurant 30 minutes before we got there in order to pull of the surprise.

“Surprise!  Our friends totally shocked Jake, as he opened the door walking through the restaurant thinking we were just getting dinner and going home for the night. He was speechless and his reaction was priceless.

After about 10 minutes the shock on his face wore off and I told him the rest of the plan for the evening. All twenty four of us shuttled into the brew bus that took us to four breweries downtown for some beer tasting.

After the 3 hour brew tour we ended the night at Rathskeller listening to the tail end of an Irish band.

So in a nutshell, my best advice for planning a surprise party like this:

Plan in advance – giving yourself plenty of time will keep the stress levels low
Picking a theme is always a fun idea
Design a special invitation to get the guests excited and set the tone
Have plenty to drink
Have fun!

Kalyn’s Wedding

My best friend since first grade got married this weekend. The day was full of love, happy tears and celebrating.

We had way too much fun getting ready while drinking mimosas, riding to the reception in a camper, dancing our butts off ,all while hogging the bar line the entire night.

Here are some pictures of the beautiful bride and her perfect day!

Enjoy…
