The Fourth of July is the best American holiday, and with it comes all the fun America loves: barbecues or picnics, relaxing by the lake and pools, and firework displays! Here are some tips to help outfit you for all the July 4th celebrations you can fit in.

Pull on your favorite pair of jean shorts, patriotic top or swimsuit and sandals and you can kick your celebration day off right. Don’t forget your sunglasses! The Fourth of July is a time to get outside and have some fun, and you can definitely look great (and patriotic) while you do it!

Crooked Lake

Is June a big birthday month for everyone else!? I feel like I know a ZILLION people with June birthdays… including my beautiful mother who turned 55 on Saturday! Yowza!

We spent her birthday weekend on Crooked Lake in Angola Indiana. It was a lovely lake weekend filled with red velvet cupcakes, dance parties, rumchata birthday shots and lots of late night boat rides so I’m keepin’ it short today with some quick pictures from our amazing weekend.

4th of July DIY

Did you realize july fourth was next week!? wow – june just flew by I still cannot even believe that June is nearly done and over with. Do you have plans for the Holiday weekend?! if you’re hosting something, here are some projects you still have plenty of time to do in honor of red, white & blue!

01 | red white and blue ice cubes to make every drink look festive (brittni for momtastic)
02 |  Rice Krispie Treats just a touch fancier than the store bought ones
03 | How to make a layered american flag cake the parties not complete without some dessert
04 | Clothes pin American Flag Wreath if you are wanting to add a little festiveness to your home
05 | ice pops … in cake form, for those of us that get really cold teeth (studio diy)
06 | these painted mason jars are too cute you could fill them up with sparklers or a variety of 4th of July goodies

Summer Braids

Happy Thursday! One more day till the weekend! Your new go-to hair style has to be the side braid this summer. It is always very cute, very elegant and easy-to-do! So summery, right?  You only need 3 things to complete this look: a handful of bobby pins, a hair tie (optional) and a little hair spray.

Happy Tuesday, friends! I’m working on lake weekend recipes this week in preparation for our mini vacay to Lake James on Friday with family! Who doesn’t love the sun, coronas, great food and time with family?

That being said… I love, love, love a good dip! They are quick and easy letting people munch on them during the day while running back out to get in the sun! I came across this skinny girl funfetti cake dip and couldn’t resist giving it a shot!

1 (18.9 oz) box Funfetti cake mix
2 cups fat-free plain yogurt
1 cup lite Cool Whip
Fat-free animal crackers
INSTRUCTIONS

In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, plain yogurt and Cool Whip until completely combined and you see no more lumps. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to chill for about 4 hours. Garnish with additional sprinkles if desired and serve with animal crackers, enjoy!

Now Trending: Floral

I absolutely love the twists on floral inspirations out this season. With Summer officially in full swing it’s time to get your floral trend on. This is one of the most consistent trends after season, because you can wear floral year round.

You can master the floral trends in one of two easy ways: Pair them with bright solid tones or you can opt for muted tones and simply add the outfit surprise with textures and pattern.  A lot of people look passed matching florals with stripes, this is the easiest pattern to pair with florals it never fails!
