Why do the weekends go by so quickly? If only we had one more day in between Saturday and Sunday. Here is a glimpse of my weekend:

1) Made homemade brocolli and cheese soup in the crockpot for the first time.

2) Woke up to this picture of the cutest little lady bugs I have ever seen

 3) Treated myself to a gel manicure; berry nails with gold sparkles

4) Sunday morning bloody mary special at 10-01 in Broadripple

 5) 4.5 mile walk on a beautiful fall afternoon

oh la la tweed

This week we’re talking jackets—which you know is a much-loved fall staple for me. Perfect for fall and winter. I’ve been stocking up on some jackets and cardigans that will be useful for the seasons to come.

I. Must. Get. a casual tweed jacket. ASAP!

Indianapolis Brew Bus

What better way to spend your Friday night? A bus, your best friends & 4 stops to breweries in Indianapolis! Saturday night we celebrated Kalyn (my best friend since first grade’s twenty-fifth birthday) Each brewery offered a wide variety of samples of their house, seasonal and specialty beers. We stopped at four local breweries, spending about 45 minutes at each location.

Last month my friend sent me an email about One Kings Lane and introduced me to them. OKL {can we call it that from here on out?} is kind of an online sample sale that’s open to the public. Their deeply discounted {up to 70% off} many times luxury items are listed for 72 hours and often sell out before the sale ends. The only thing you need to do to have access to the sales is join by entering in your email address so OKL can send you sale emails. OKL carries ALL sorts of items all relating to home. You need to check it out! 🙂

I’ve always loved my crockpot, but feel like my love for it has been renewed here lately. With the cold weather settling in, I’m looking for new ways to use it so that I don’t have to subsist on frozen meals.

Jake and I spent our afternoon in Broadripple having lunch, walking on the monon trail and stopping at Kilroy’s to watch part of the football games. We had one of those weekends that was just solid awesome. The forecast suggested rain on and off all weekend but it cleared up Saturday and today was beautiful.

I threw this white chicken chili recipe in the crockpot before we left. When we got home, five hours later, dinner had practically made itself.

Easy White Chicken Chili

Prep Time: 5 minutes

3 boneless chicken breasts
1 can black beans
1 package cream cheese
1 dry ranch seasoning packet
1 can corn undrained
1 can rotel undrained

optional toppings: diced avocado, chopped fresh cilantro, shredded cheese, chopped green onions, sour cream, crumbled tortilla chips

Add chicken, beans, corn, rotel, cream cheese and ranch packet to crock pot. Cook on high for 5-7 hours or until chicken falls apart. Serve warm with desired toppings.

Last night we had a blast at a friends bon fire and we finally got around to carving pumpkins. With the scary music turned up, I successfully created my silly face jack-o-lantern and Jake made a colts inspired pumpkin, even after we destroyed both of the carving kit’s safety knives.

After too many last minute Halloween costumes I figured I better start thinking of an outfit now instead of waiting till the last minute. Halloween is definitely up there on my list of favorite Holidays and it is somehow already just around the corner. It is the one day a year you can be anyone you want to be and it’s acceptable to consume nothing but a chocolate!

Here is a collection of some of my favorite past halloween and costume ideas. { Indians, the characters from the Office, legends of the hidden temple, air fresheners, guess who, candy hearts, a bridal party and nerds} hmm … what will it be this year?
