Girl’s Weekend 2013.

Our sixth annual girl’s weekend was a success. My mom and I hadn’t been up to Crooked Lake since last fourth of July, and I forgot how amazing it is. My mom and I headed up there Thursday night to get all of the food ready before everyone arrived on Friday morning. This was the first girl’s weekend that we had celebrated somewhere other than Naperville, Illinois. We enjoyed a few leisurely days soaking up the sun, boating and tubing, watching the sunset, dancing on the patio, playing dress up and putting on a fashion show, great cocktails, pyramids and cartwheels in the yard, some sandbox fun and spending time with the family. It was about as quintessential of a summer break as you can get! 🙂

Squat Challenge

I haven’t been as good as I should be, after my completion of Mini Marathon about working out and running. My intention had been to run two to three miles a day following the marathon in May, but I have fallen off the wagon a bit.

I came across a squat challenge, and thought I’d give it a try.  Yesterday was Day 1. 250 squats, how hard can it be, right?!  Can you say: jelly legs!! I did them throughout the day, not all at once which made it a little bit easier to complete all 250!

This weekend we will be celebrating our sixth annual girl’s weekend with the girls on my dad’s side of the family. The past five years we have enjoyed our weekend in Naperville, Illinios but decided to do something new this year and have it on Lake James. Each weekend in the past we have shopped, done a bar crawl, sipped corona and wine, played Apples to Apples, danced the night away and we do a craft!

Overalls

I’ve been flirting with the idea of trying this comeback trend for a while now. And I think July is the best time to wear your overalls. Look for a distressed pair with a little personality at a thrift store.

Life Lately.

Wait. How is it already the middle of July? Saturday was my first weekend out on the lake this Summer. It was bright blue, refreshing, and just what I needed. I had such a great weekend celebrating Jake’s Birthday with our friends! Friday we spent the day making Jello shots, laying by the pool & trying Fat Dan’s burgers and fries for the first time. There’s something about the long, lazy days of summer, that beg for weekend trips to places you’ve never been. The temperature was in the high 80’s all weekend, the perfect lake weather, we packed up the car  with coolers, blankets, and food and headed to Monroe Lake for the weekend. We spent far to much time in the sun, had a bon fire and camped out for the night. We spent the day tubing and soaking up the sun. We are all exhausted and sun burnt but it was a great way to spend the weekend! 🙂
