After a few failed attempts, I’m on my way to making a couple new winter scarves. I love the look of the big chunky scarves and decided to start knitting them myself instead of buying them from the store.

Last night I finished my first multi-colored scarf. I was pretty happy with the way my first one turned out. Thanks to youtube videos I was able to teach myself how to cast on and cast off on the stitch.

Next project is another multi-colored scarf just using different yarn.

Let the Running Begin.

I started my 10-week half marathon training program yesterday! Last year when Danyelle and I ran the half marathon we told ourselves we would not do it again without training beforehand. It should be a lot easier this year if I can stick to the training schedule!

I had a cold the entire weekend and today I am finally starting to feel  like myself again. I still have a runny nose, but was able to make a big breakfast on Sunday, get my car washed and make a Target run without feeling like I needed a 4-hour nap.

Spring Showers.

I’m on the hunt for a cute umbrella. Spring showers are right around the corner, so I need a super cute umbrella that brightens an otherwise gloomy day. Here are just a few of the adorable ones I have found.

5 Things to Look Forward To This Month.

Hello, hello. 2013 has already been a great year and very exciting so far.  In January I thought ‘Wow, this month went quickly’ and I am thinking the same thing about February so far. I compiled a list of the five things I am most excited about that I have coming up!

Today I get to see my mom! She is coming down tonight with customers from work: we are going to go to a Pacers game, staying at the Hilton & having breakfast Thursday morning.

Tomorrow Jake I celebrate our first Valentine’s Day! We both have to work 9am-9pm on Thursday so no big plans! 🙂

3 days until my Brother visits Indianapolis! Robbie and his friend Taylor are coming down Saturday night. They are going to stay at my apartment after we go out in Broadripple for the night.

19 days until I will be in Mexico! Leaving on the 3rd of March and staying in New Orleans for the night. Then we are cruising to Progreso Mexico and Cozumel!

31 days until Mary Helen visits for St Patty’s Day! We are celebrating St Patty’s Day weekend in Chicago with some friends from Purdue!

This is going to be an exciting month!!! 🙂

Pasta Salad.

My mom bought me this tailgate football shaped pasta awhile back when football season started. It would have been perfect to make for Superbowl but I finally just made it yesterday afternoon. The pasta was football themed in the shape of footballs and helmets. I threw the ingredients below together and it turned out really delicious!

  • 3 cups uncooked pasta
  • 2 cups chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup bacon bits
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup cubed pepperjack cheese
  • 1/4 cup minced fresh basil
  • 1 cup Italian dressing
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped green peppers

  • Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and rinse in cold water; transfer to a large bowl. Add the tomatoes, peppers, onion, bacon and pepperjack cheese.
  • Add in the garlic, basil, Italian dressing & salt and pepper. Drizzle over salad and toss to coat; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

My Weekend.

I think I say this every Monday but this weekend went extremely fast! I cannot believe that it is already Monday and I am back at work for another week.

I had a great weekend. One of those weekends you try to replicate and figure out why it worked so well-filled with Kalyn’s family visiting, great meals, a low-key Friday evening at home & a lazy Sunday baking & knitting.

Friday night I went to Zumba with some girls from work then had a relaxing low key night at home. Chipotle for dinner, laundry, cleaned my apartment & watched a couple shows on my Ipad.

Saturday night I met Kalyn and her family out for dinner downtown Indianapolis at McCormick & Schmicks. We had some great seafood and wine to start the evening!

After dinner we hung out at Union Station hotel where her parents were staying Saturday night. We taught them a couple drinking games, listened to music & hung out at the Hotel’s lounge.

After all of the hotel fun Kalyn and I met Anne & Lindsey out downtown at Kilroy’s for long island ice teas followed by riding the bull at cadillac ranch, bartinis & ending our night at a hot dog stand.

Sunday Ashley and Melea came over and we made Red Velvet cupcakes & iced sugar cookies!
