2011 in Review

January – I started my last semester at Purdue University. I had a pretty easy load only taking fifteen credit hours before I would finally graduate in May. We also welcomed Miss Briella Reece into this world in January. I can’t believe that she is already going to be a year old here shortly!  And in January we got snowed in at Purdue and got to experience our first ever snow day!

February- Kevin and I celebrated our first Valentine’s day together..

March – Welcome to MIAMI!  Six of my friends spent one fabulous week in Miami Beach, Florida. It was back to reality once we got landed in Indiana,  no more European males, fun dance clubs, or warm weather!  & another thing that made March memorable was the Boilermakers made it to the Sweet Sixteen for the second year in a row.

April –  A pretty calm month considering nothing compared to Miami. We celebrated Pi Phi Mom’s Weekend in Lafayette.

May – Had a successful semester ending my college career with a decent GPA. May might have been the most exciting month of the year. Spent the whole month celebrating our last few weeks of our Purdue Career.  Grand Prix, dead week, and Senior week.

Summer- In the summer I celebrated memorial day, my mom’s birthday, and also 4th of July weekend up at Lake Wawasee! My mom and I also spent a few days in Napperville, Illinois enjoying our third annual girl’s weekend with the girl’s in my family. During the summer I also discovered the greatness of frozen yogurt….yummm

September –  Was spent visiting friends still left at Purdue and apartment/job searching in Indianapolis.

October – Kalyn and I made the big move to Indianapolis. We spent most of this month decorating our apartment for fall and getting all of our stuff moved in.

November – Experienced my first Colts’ game ever for Kevin’s birthday with Kalyn and Steve.  We enjoyed a dinner afterwards at the Ram.

December -In December Kalyn and I hosted a Holiday party, wrapped tons of gifts, saw the beautiful Christmas lights downtime Indy and celebrated Christmas in Kendallville. I’m excited for a new year and to see what adventures it will bring.  Tonight I am ringing in the New Year at work and once it hits Midnight I will say goodbye to 2011 and welcome 2012 with open arms!

Birthday Celebration

For me, the best birthday celebrations include the ones spent with family and friends. Although I couldn’t spend the day with my family I got to celebrate the night with some great friends.  Here’s a little sneakpeak of the highlights from my 23rd birthday.

I took a half an hour lunch break today at work and when I walked back into the office this is what was waiting for me on my desk along with balloons and a card!

Meredith and Kyle were out in Broadripple celebrating his brother’s birthday. After they finished up at Crackers comedy club we met up with them at Broadripple Tavern..always great seeing them:)

Thanks for making my birthday so special! Kevin got here Wednesday to start my Birthday celebration a little early. He surprised me with new earrings, dinner at PF Changs,  family fued competitions on his new IPAD, and cuddled up on the couch with a Redbox movie.

Even after working a twelve hour shift Kalyn still managed to come out for my birthday! What a trooper….

We had to end our bar hopping adventure a little bit earlier than planned since I had to work the next day. We ended our night with Hotbox breadsticks and pizza making it the perfect ending to my birthday night.

Badly Behaved Bangs.

Five tricks from the beauty department on how to manage difficult bangs!

1,Get ‘em while they’re wet. You have to blow dry your bangs straight out of the shower! It’s a must. The minute they start drying on their own, you’re no longer the boss. Dry them, then get dressed, then come back and finish your hair.

2. Dry shampoo before your bangs get dirty. After you blow your hair out, or even if you’re an air-dryer, blast them with a little dry shampoo while they’re freshly clean. This way, the oils never even get a chance to come out and flatten or cause separation.

3. If you blow dry, direct bangs the opposite way you want them to go first. Then blow them to your normal side. This keeps them from laying too flat on your forehead. If you like to wear them straight down, brush them to the left and to the right while blow drying, then blow and brush them straight down. That will help control any annoying cowlicks.

4. Go easy on product. It’s best to stick to dry shampoo and maybe a little hairspray when dealing with bangs (unless you have really curly hair and you need a straightening product). The more product you use, the more product gets on your forehead and can often cause break-outs. Eek!

5. Sometimes I like to lightly flat iron a small top layer of the bangs for shine and smoothness. I usually don’t flat iron all of the hair because it can get stringy. Just doing the little bit on top allows your bangs to look full, but stay smooth.

Snowwwww.

I woke up to beautiful big snowflakes this morning which made my 8am trip to work interesting! It seems like the first snowfall of the year everyone forgets how to drive. I was hoping that it’d continue to snow throughout the day, but it melted and turned into slush!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!!  I’m off to enjoy the day with my family. Wine…fresh-baked cookies…great food….classic Christmas movies … laughs… board games and gifts…
Thank you for a wonderful year! I’ll see you in a few days…

Christmas Eve

“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ‘till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
― Dr. SeussHow the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Darts Anyone?

Since we’re almost ready for another weekend, I guess I need to update the blog with some of last weeks activities. I swore to myself I would be a better blogger this winter…I guess I have time to redeem myself since today is technically the first day of Winter.
Last week Morgan and I decided we wanted to go do something different besides our normal going out in Broadripple. Our plan was to go bowling but we didn’t know the rest of Indy had the same exact idea as us and it was a two hour wait to get a lane. We decided not to wait that long and went to a local brewery beside her apartment for some great beers and some darts.
(As you can see I didn’t have the greatest aim!)

Holiday Party

Maybe we say this every year, but I can’t believe how quickly time has passed and that it’s already so close to Christmas.  Tomorrow is our Christmas party at work and Friday I leave to head north to my parents for the weekend to be with them for Christmas! wowww!!

We didn’t get the memo that everyone out in Broadripple would be wearing tacky Christmas sweaters except for us haha!

Christmas card 2011????

This past weekend was packed with fun plans with friends…just how I like it.  On Saturday, Kalyn & I had a little Holiday get together to see some friends from highschool. No pictures from the party uploaded yet, but I will have them up soon!

On Sunday morning, I finished my last day at Nordstrom Rack and started my new job on Monday! So far so good 🙂

Meredith & I also met at  Tomo Tuesday night to enjoy some sushi and catch up on life. Great meal, great convo, great time.
