Party Sushi Rolls


  • 3 cups sushi rice (It’s naturally sticky, so it holds together)
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 12 thin asparagus spears
  • 12 large shrimp , peeled and deveined
  • About 3 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 hass avocado (Rinsing slices with cold water stops them from browning.)
  • 6 sheets yaki nori (These are tasty, slightly salty, paperlike sheets of seaweed.)
  • 1/4 cup toasted hulled sesame seeds
  • Soy sauce, pickled ginger and wasabi paste, for serving
